Dr Subhas Gupta has served as the Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Loma Linda University since 2004.  He serves multiple other roles on campus with surgical service, medical staff, and research leadership.

After graduating from the McGill University School of Medicine, he spent five years as a General Surgery resident at McGill University, during which time he completed his PhD at the University of Louisville.  He then proceeded into his Plastic Surgery fellowship at McGill.  Next came a Hand and Microsurgery fellowship in Las Vegas.  After that fellowship, he assumed a faculty role at Loma Linda University in Southern California.  With various inpatient and outpatient responsibilities in research and surgical leadership, Dr Gupta has had numerous academic roles at Loma Linda.  He leads a research team that has published over 190 peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters.  He is now primarily focused on working on regenerative applications in complex wound reconstruction and facial aging aesthetics.

 In his current role as the Chairman of Plastic Surgery at Loma Linda, Dr Gupta has a broad clinical practice in surgery in the fields of facial aesthetics, body contouring, hand reconstruction, complex soft tissue defects, and breast cancer reconstruction.
